Chatrooms
In addition to dA’s comment system, which can be used for RP, P-M is also hosting a collection of chatrooms on the IRC webapp Mibbit. If you’ve never used Mibbit, worry not, we’ve included a guide and FAQ at the bottom of this journal. We will also host an OOC and RP chatroom via dA chat for those that prefer to use it. Please note that events will be run through mibbit though!
Chatroom Rules
Group rules apply to our chatrooms, please respect them.
- Please do not impersonate other people, mods, or other people’s characters in the chat.
- Please don’t use yellow, light green or cyan as text colours (are we OK with magenta?).
- Keep NSFW content outside of the public chatrooms. Respect others and pursue that content in private.
- Don’t be a dick.
If you spot anyone breaking a rule, please tell a mod. We will be banning repeat offenders from the chat, and for serial offenders, from the group.

How to use Mibbit
When you first open Mibbit, you should be given a box like this. Make sure to fill in your nick to get the name that you want - you can join with your deviantArt name, one of your character names, or anything else that you like, just make sure you’re recognisable!
There can’t be two people on the server with the same nickname, so if there is currently someone online using your name, you’ll be asked to choose another. Once you’ve joined with a nickname, you can register it if you’d like to have exclusive access to that nickname - if you’ve done that, you can click Auth in order to fill in a password and log in.
How do I change my nickname once I’ve joined the channel?
Just type this into the box: /nick [NEW NICKNAME]
For example: /nick Mr_Star
How do I make/join a new channel?
In order to join a new channel just type:
/join #[CHANNEL] (For example: /join #PandaeMoniumOOC)
Alternatively, if you type any channel name into chat you’ll be able to doubleclick it in order to go to the channel. If the channel doesn’t already exist, it will be created for you! This means that if the main rooms ever get too busy for your liking you can go ahead and make a new one.
If you’d like your chat/RP to be logged for you, make sure to summon stardog to handle logging. There’re two ways to do this - you can ask stardog to follow you to a channel (note that this must be done in the main chat, meaning everyone else can see the command and come along too):
!follow #CHANNEL (for example: !follow #PandaeMoniumRP2)
Or you can invite stardog, which is silent and a little more discreet:
/invite stardog #CHANNEL (for example /invite stardog #SecretRP)
If he’s getting a little creepy or you’re finished with him, you can get stardog to leave the current channel by typing: !leave
What other commands are there?
/me [ACTION] - Produces an action rather than a message.
I… can’t think of anything off the top of my head apart from /nick /join /me and the various /nickservs….
How do I register my nickname?
Note that nickname registration is optional, you can still use Mibbit without registering! This just ensures that no one else can ever take your name.
Make sure that you’re currently using the nickname that you’d like to register, then type this into the chatbox:
/nickserv REGISTER [password] [email]
For example (please don’t use password123 as a password):
/nickserv REGISTER password123 mr.star@gmail.com
You should then receive an e-mail with a passcode which you can just plug into the chatbox in order to complete registration (/nickserv CONFIRM [passcode]). If you have any problems feel free to let any of the mods in chat know and we’ll be happy to help you out!
How do I log in?
When opening Mibbit, you can just click on Auth above the name box to sign in. If you’ve /nicked to a registered nickname however, you’ll be kicked off the name in 30 seconds if you don’t identify yourself as the owner - you can do this by entering:
/nickserv IDENTIFY [password]
For example:
/nickserv IDENTIFY password123
How do I join using my IRC client?
Join the server at irc.mibbit.net on port 6667. You can join the main room with: /join #PandaeMoniumOOC and most things can be figured out from there, but feel free to hit masolulu up with any questions if she’s in chat.

Stardog is the adorable chatbot that lives in our chatrooms. He wanders around and helps visitors to the station navigate and communicate. Feel free to consult him if you need help. You’ll find a list of commands below.
Stardog Commands
- !log - produces a log of the chatroom contents.
- !pet - pet and talk to stardog, who knows what kind of stuff he’ll say?
- !rand [MAXIMUM] - randomises a random number between 1 and [MAXIMUM]
- !dice [NUMBER]d[SIDES] - roll a dice - by default it will roll 1d6 (one six sided dice)
- !follow #ChannelName - get him to follow you to a new channel
- !leave - makes him leave the current channel
You can tag stardog by typing “stardog:” and he will respond with a helpful reminder about his commands.
